There
are three types of car insurance cover available to uk residents.
Note there will normally be a policy excess involved in the event of
you making a claim. Check what excess if payable for your policy when
taking out cover :
Third Party - This covers you for liability as regards injuries
to other people including passengers or your vehicle as well as damage
to other people's property.
Third Party Fire & Theft - This includes all of the cover
mentioned for third party cover. It also provides cover for your vehicle
in the event of a theft taking place.
Comprehensive - This includes all of the cover mentioned for
third party and third party fire & theft. It also includes accidental
damage to your vehicle and with some comprehensive policies, a personal
accident benefit. The extent of this cover usually varies between different
policies but can include cover in the event of death or disablement
and medical expenses that arise from an accident up to a specified limit
as well as loss or damage to personal items.
